New Appointments at Advantex
Advantex Network Solutions Ltd has moved to support expansion plans with the appointment of three new engineers.
The company has also taken on two new engineering apprentices and additional sales staff.
Craig Milne, 21, Alan Scott, 32, and Paul Carson,18, join as network engineers, while Chris Shields and Ian McCutcheon (both 17 years old) come in to the team as apprentices.
James Miller will be joining the team of sales staff to ensure a steady growth to support the new appointments.
The engineers are trained to the European safety standard ECITB and are City & Guild qualified or equivalent to carry out advanced network cabling and installation work.
The new apprentices will be undertaking in-house training supplemented by studies at Gateshead College for a CISCO Certified Network Association qualification as well as NVQ work based training and the OCR IT professional technician’s qualification provided by the North East Chamber of Commerce.
Advantex designs, installs and commissions data and voice local area networks (LANs) for commercial and industrial companies and the new appointments bring the number of full and part-time people working at the firm to over 30.
The appointments come as the company smashed a £1 million turnover target this summer – hitting its six-year target two years earlier than anticipated.
Operations Director David O’Connell said he was committed to helping fill the industry skills gap and encouraging people to stay in the industry through apprenticeship schemes.
“There is a skills gap and we’re committed to doing our part to help close the gap."
“I’m very excited by this as bringing new people into the industry and giving them the right balance of academic and practical training will give us the expertise to service the future needs of customers from within our own resources."
“Craig, Scott and Paul’s appointments are a major boost to the business, too. Their expertise and experience will be invaluable as we look to increase the scope, quality and provision of our work to clients right across the UK.”
