Scion Multimedia unit
Installing the Multimedia unit will enable the transmission of Audio Visual equipment (AV) to be sent over your new and existing twisted pair cable to anywhere in your premises. The system works over VCR's, DVD players, set top boxes, Sky decoders etc, which can be located in a secure cabinet in your communications or IT room, eliminating the risk of theft or damage. The system can be viewed on any TV and on OHP's.
What is it?
Installing a Scion unit will enable the transmission of audio & visual (AV) signals to be sent over your existing or new Category 5e cable.
What are the benefits
No additional cables to install, the Scion system uses unused wall outlets.
Security conscious - all of the source equipment, ie VCR's / DVD players / set top boxes / Sky decoders etc can be located in a secure cabinet in your communications or IT room, eliminating the risk of theft or damage.
Ultra flexible - if you want a particular room to receive any of the above, simply plug a TV or OHP into any network outlet.
Full control of equipment using infra red handsets - e.g. a tutor could be in a classroom at the other end of the building from the DVD, yet still have complete control of the unit.
No bandwidth of the data network is used, it just uses spare cabling.
CCTV cameras can be viewed if necessary; channels & inputs can be barred from certain areas at certain times using simple software. For instance a channel could be 'forced' across all screens, perhaps a fire drill video or a head teachers message to all staff and pupils.
No limit to the amount of screens linked, no signal degradation over long distance, ultra reliable technology used by blue chip companies over the last 10 years.
