Record Sales

Fast growing North East-based IT company Advantex Network Solutions Ltd has quadrupled its sales in the last 12 months of trading. And new appointments will be key to helping the company reach the £1,000,000 turnover mark by summer 2005.

The firm, which designs, installs and commissions data and voice local area networks (LANs) and associated IP systems including CCTV and access control, for commercial and industrial companies, is fast approaching the £1,000,000 turnover mark, after less than 30 months of trading.

And, following major new contract work the company is set for further expansion over the coming months with the appointment of four engineers to improve its service to customers.

Advantex was formed at the end of 2002 by former Royal Marine commando Stephen O’Connell and his brother David after both had been working for another local computer networking company.

Clients include Caterpillar Articulated Trucks, NSK Steering, Nissan UK Ltd and wood-based panels manufacturer Egger (UK) Ltd.

The prestigious ISO9001/2000 industry quality mark has also been awarded to the company within its first year of trading.

The firm already employs a number of full and part-time staff based at its depot on Sunderland’ s Wessington North Industrial Estate but has moved to improve the quality of its service and cable installation work with the appointment of three new engineers.

Adam Richardson comes from Conex, while Gary Hunter and Tony Easingwood join from PND. They will report to new supervisor David Armstrong, who also joins from Conex.

All are trained to the European safety standard ECITB and are City & Guild qualified or equivalent to carry out advanced network cabling and installation work.

Directors Stephen and David O’Connell have also completed the two-year Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) course at City of Sunderland College.

Stephen O’Connell said that training has been important in securing growth because it assures clients of the high quality of work provided by the company.

He added: “Our success has been achieved through sheer hard work, investing in skilled people and an on-going commitment to providing clients with a quality, cost effective service."

“The appointment of Adam, Gary, Tony and David will be a major boost to the business. Their expertise and experience will be invaluable as we look to increase the scope, quality and provision of our work to clients right across the UK.”
