Businesses Urged To Connect To New Government Internet Funding

Hundreds of Teesside, County Durham, Wearside and Northumberland businesses are being urged to take advantage of a new Government Internet Funding scheme that will help them to be better connected to the internet.

Update Oct 2017: There is a new Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme available for 2018

The Broadband Connection Vouchers scheme will be available in these areas from tomorrow (April 1) and registered supplier of the scheme Advantex Network Solutions Ltd wants to see local firms move quickly to benefit from thousands of pounds of free funding.

The Government has set aside £150 million to fund its Broadband Connection Vouchers scheme, which enables a business to apply for up to £3000 to use towards the cost of installing new internet and Wi-Fi services.

This could be used to pay for super-fast broadband connection and associated hardware such as wireless and internet security.

Gateshead-based IT firm Advantex is a registered supplier of the connection vouchers and has been in the vanguard of successfully delivering the Go Digital scheme across Tyneside to a number of businesses.

This has seen new super-fast and secure internet services installed to improve services to tenants and landlords.

The UK already does more business online than any other European country, and the widespread access to superfast broadband offered by the scheme will provide a tremendous boost to the Tyneside economy.

Now, Advantex director Stephen O’Connell wants to see regional businesses taking advantage of the scheme to improve their services and overall business performance.

However, he’s concerned that many business owners and managers are unaware of the scheme or believe that they might not be eligible for funding.

“The Government has set aside hundreds of millions of pounds to help local companies become better connected to the internet, and there’s huge capacity for local companies to access funding.

“Which business wouldn’t want the opportunity to tap into a no-obligation funding package that puts them on the fast track to success using super-fast broadband connectivity as well as associated IT hardware for connectivity?

“So, more companies need to register and take advantage of an initiative that can help them to improve competitiveness and boost growth.”

Stephen O’Connell is also urging commercial property landlords take advantage a scheme that sees up to £3,000 available to them per tenant.

“If landlords have several tenants then the available funding package can add up to tens of thousands of pounds for investing in an enterprise grade internet for their building as well as an enterprise level wireless network and Internet security.”
