Malvertising (malicious advertising) is the use of online advertising to spread malware. Typically, hackers inject malicious code into legitimate advertising networks and websites.
Malvertising clone and use what looks like your favourite and trusted online sources to distribute malware and other nasty software that skim and steal your data, or lock down your machine with little to no user interaction at all.
