Defence Cyber Certification: Why North-East Businesses Need To Act Now

Industry partners have been asked to achieve Defence Cyber Certification Level 0 by 31 December 2026 and the MOD’s Digital Commercial Strategic roadmap goes further, stating:
“No supplier should be considered for a Defence contract unless they have the Defence Cyber Certification in place.”

To achieve DCC Level 0 by 31 December 2026, organisations must first have Cyber Essentials in place as the foundation for certification.
Achieving certification prior to a tender requiring it mitigates pressure, cost and risk. Unsupported systems, unmanaged devices, weak access controls, unpatched software, insecure cloud services or unclear asset ownership can all delay progress. In some cases, businesses may discover they are further away from compliance than expected.
